Austin was born in Waco, Texas in 1993. He spent most of his youth growing up in Marble Falls, Texas. In 2011, he began college at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and graduated with an engineering degree in 2015. Austin now lives in Boulder and is working on a Masters degree in astrodynamics.
He began drawing with pencils as a hobby, but later expanded into mediums including watercolor and acrylic. Many of his paintings still maintain the stylistic elements of graphite drawings, such as high contrast and use of whitespace.
Most of his scenic and portrait works attempt to capture a sense of somber isolationism. Some go a step further and present a metaphorical contrast alongside the stylistic ones. This is accomplished through contrasting elements such as serenity alongside abandonment and seclusion. While these works are aimed at conveying a sense of self-reflection that comes with solitude, others (such as the action shots) aim to foster a sense of fun and excitement. He believes that adventure is also an important part of life, and enjoys reflecting that belief through some of his artwork.
